Who we are

In 2018 I completed my degree in Nutrition and Food Science and in 2020 I started working for the NHS where I helped individuals get active and this is where I also gained my qualifications in Gym instructing and Personal Training.

I started Farming Fit after I decided I needed a change from working for the NHS and I moved back to the family farm to do what I had grown up doing and loved…farming, but I also wanted to continue my love for fitness and helping others and so Farming Fit was born!

Farming Fit is all about getting active and feeling good! After fully recognising the benefits of physical activity on mental health both for myself and others I want to continue to help others reap the benefits of getting active.

Being able to get active outdoors surrounded by the countryside is also a big part of the gym, I believe the outdoors and fresh air can play wonders with boosting the body and the mind (although we do have an indoors area when the weather is poor!) and so I turned an unused concrete pad on the farm into Farming Fit!

Why Farming Fit?

Farming Fit is not just for farmers, but the name Farming Fit comes from the the mental resilience and physical strength farmers must have to be able to farm. Farming is a 24/7 job is a physically demanding job as well as has a wide range of uncontrollable factors which farmers must face, whether it be the weather, fluctuating market prices or animal disease disruption and therefore mental health is really important in farming.

Farming can also be a very isolating job, as can many jobs and therefore Farming Fit has a big emphasis on bringing people together, meeting new people and socialising whilst exercising.

Therefore the name Farming Fit is all about getting ‘Farming Fit’. Working on physical fitness and mental resilience and helping to build a healthy body and a healthy mind for all.
